The outstanding contribution of Japanese researchers to the worldwide scientific community was celebrated on 14 June night at a reception to mark the 10th anniversary of IOP Publishing’s editorial office in Tokyo.

The event, held in Tokyo’s British Embassy, brought together a number of leading Japanese scientists.

During the evening, leading members of the Japanese scientific community were joined by IOP Publishing staff to celebrate this latest landmark in the special relationship IOP Publishing holds with the Japanese scientific community.

Speakers at the event included the Deputy Head of Mission (Minister) Mr David Fitton; Professor Iye, President of the Physical Society of Japan; Professor Ushioda, President of National Institute of Materials Science and President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics; Prof Kawata, president-elected of JSAP; and Mr Steven Hall, Managing Director of IOP Publishing.

IOP Publishing’s first Japanese editorial office was opened in 2002 in Tokyo, and the editorial team has worked closely with hundreds of researchers to help them showcase their work to the worldwide scientific community and raise their international profile.

Going forward, IOP Publishing will continue to work closely with Japanese scientists as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing an outstanding publishing service to scientists worldwide.
